Today's Scribbles

Lynda Barry (format)  and Wally Neibart inspired daily exercise - @2 minutes apiece.
I add titles when the drawing is done.
Your scribble-challenges are welcome! Send to ARFHISTORY@gmail.com.
I will publish drawings made from selected scribbles on this blog.

SCRIBBLINGS

Here is a page of scribbles turned into drawings. Each took less than 5 minutes. (I added the red so that the original scribbles would be easier to see for this particular drawing).
My father (who was also an artist) and I used to do these all the time, when I was young. He (and I, later) went to libraries and nursing homes and had audience members come up and make a scribble, then watch and laugh as he turned them into silly drawings.
I use this exercise in my classes sometimes, to help unleash students' imaginations.
Lynda Barry's Writing the Unthinkable workshop reminded me of this amazing exercise in creativity.

Dancing Bee

Just a doodle. I've decided to start posting these.
The object is to free my mind - and my hand, to loosen up
my line a bit. Let's see what happens...

MONSTERS...

SQUIGGLE MONSTERS OF THE END OF JULY

Monsters

From the incomparable Lynda Barry's Writing The Unthinkable class:   SQUIGGLE MONSTERS!
My father and I used to do this - he would make a squiggle, and I'd turn it into a monster or an animal, and then we'd switch, and I'd make the squiggle. In Lynda's class, we'd make squiggles, then switch papers, but at home, I'm doing both parts.
